Curtis was born in Calgary, but spent his growing up years in Nova Scotia where his parents served as missionaries with NCEM. At the age of seven, his father led him into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as his Savior. Diane was born into a Christian home in Connecticut. As a young child she gave her heart to the Lord during a Vacation Bible School.Both studied Bible and pastoral ministries at New Brunswick Bible Institute. It was during their student days that the Lord spoke to them concerning missions and directed them to an urban church planting ministry in Chile, South America. They began overseas ministry in 1982, and in addition to working with the national church, in 1997 Curtis was elected as Director for GMSA (Gospel Mission of South America) in Chile. He has just been re-elected for another three-year term. Both he and Diane also have responsibilities in the office routine, accounting, church, hospitality and assisting mission guests. Curtis oversees all GMSA missionaries in their various capacities throughout the country as well as being the advising pastor in two churches here in Santiago at present.The Stewards have three daughters. Tiffany is studying at Appalacian Bible College in West Virginia, majoring in Bible and missions, and praying about the future. This semester she is working on rafting and "caving" courses to qualify her to work in the college's summer wilderness camp program.
